Message from President Neville
Hi bowlers all,
Great weather for bowling, great greens to bowl on, but yet again something to deal with.
The recent directive from Bowls Victoria that all pennant players must be vaccinated comes as no surprise. The noises coming from the government made it clear this would happen. The directive places responsibility on club boards to ensure compliance. I therefore ask anyone who has their name down to play pennant and has not received vaccination to advise the selectors, as they will not be able to be picked for pennant teams until they are vaccinated. As for social bowls, my reading of the rules is that there are no restrictions provided we are checking that players are fully vaccinated.
We therefore need unvaccinated bowlers not to attend the club. Those with smart phones who have been using the Services Victoria app should be able to display their vaccination certificate on that app. If you are having difficulty there are some members who can help. If you do not use a smart phone check in, I understand a certificate can be obtained from your vaccination provider. No-one is more disappointed than I am that it has come to this, but I ask for your participation in the process. Please do not be offended if you are asked about your vaccination status, as the board wants to keep members bowling while avoiding significant fines.
Stay well and bowl well
Neville
